The Complete List of ingredients for Digestin:

Lipase - A family of naturally occurring enzymes produced by the body to aid in the digestion of fats and most notable lipids. As such, these constitute any of the fat-splitting or lipolytic enzymes, all of which cleave a fatty acid residue from the glycerol residue in a neutral fat or a phospholipid. Lipase is an enzyme (or more exactly a group of enzymes) belonging to the esterases. Lipase is found widely distributed in the plant world (beans and legumes), as well as in molds, bacteria, milk and mild products, and in animal tissues, especially in the pancreas. Lipase controls the amount of fat being synthesized and that which is burned in the body, reducing adipose tissue (fat stores). In sufficient quantites, Lipase can help move fat-stores to be burned as fuel. Indeed, Lipase is a rate-determining enzyme which will not only activates the burning of stored body fat but also effectively inhibits fatty acid synthesis, or fat storage! Hormone-Sensitive Triacyclglycerol Lipase, as it is also known, actually stimulates lipolysis in fat tissues, safely raising blood fatty acid levels which ultimately activates the beta-oxidation pathway in other tissues such as liver and muscle. In the liver, this process leads to the production of ketone bodies that are secreted into the bloodstream for use as an alternative fuel to glucose by peripheral tissues. Lipase contains sulfhydryl groups (SH) and is activated by substances that keep SH groups in the reduced state, such as ascorbic acid or Vitamin C, and L-Glutathione and L-Cysteine. Lipase is rather unique in that it selectively helps in the breakdown of fats but without damaging the fat-soluble vitamins (D3) or unsaturated fatty acids of GLA, DHA, and EPA.

Pancreatin - A digestive enzymatic substance containing principally amylase, protease and lipase, obtained from the pancreas of hogs. These digestive enzymes work on carbohydrates (amylase on certain areas of starch molecules), protease on proteins and lipase on fats. Their ratio of activity is generally 2:25:25, respectively. Useful in the treatment of patients with cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, partial or complete pancreatectomy or other conditions associated with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. It hydrolyzes fats to glycerol and fatty acids, changes proteins into proteoses and peptide derived substances, and converts starch into dextrin and sugars.

Cellulase - An enzyme which catalyzes the hydrolysis of cellulose to cellobiose, a simpler cellulose chain.

Lactase - Lactase or Beta-Galactosidase is the particular enzyme which appears to be solely responsible for the hydrolysis or breakdown and digestion of the milk sugar lactose. Without this enzyme being produced in the body, many individuals being lactose sensitive cannot eat or enjoy dairy products. When this enzyme is supplied however, previously indigestible milk foods can now be enjoyed without difficulty.

Papain - A digestive enzyme derived from the Papaya fruit, capable of cleaving proteins and peptides into free form amino acids, necessary for effective digestion. Papain also is useful in eliminating thread worms and round worms in the gastrointestinal tract by simply digesting them.

Mallow - Believe it or not, this is the original source of the confectionery of this same name, marshmallows! Although unfortunately not used anymore today in the making of candy, Marsh Mallow's powdered root contains a mucilage that thickens in water and was once heated with sugar to create a soothing sweet paste.Long known by the Egyptians and the Syrians, as well as mentioned by Pythagoras, Plato and Virgil, this plant was used primarily as a soothing and calming herb, used both internally (digested to help cleanse the colon) and externally. Cosmetically it is known to be an effective deterrent against skin irruptions and itching, dry-patchiness, and helps reduce puffiness.

Papaya Oil - Papaya has many functions. First, when topically applied, this fruit is rich in Alpha Hydroxy Acids, known to be effective antioxidants for the skin as well as to encourage the natural sloughing of the skin. High in potassium, this fruit oil can act to soothe and relax the skin, aiding in the natural opening of the pores to allowing expulsion of unwanted substances and promote the healing process of skin infections. One popularly quoted case in South Africa involved a postoperative infection that wouldn't yield to antibiotics. Strips of Papaya laid over the wound healed it within 48 hours. This is another favorite oil used in the West Indies for years and is renown for its curative and soothing properties to the skin and the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. See Oil Extracts.Secondly, the leaf and fruit both contain papain and chymopapain, sulfhydryl proteases (enzymes) that hydrolyze (digest) proteins, small peptides, amides and esters (breaking down various structures within protein), and whose digestive activity also extends to carbohydrates and fats. Papaya enzymes are useful for all stomach complaints including related problems of inadequate fat digestion, liver and bile duct ailments and pancreas disease. Papaya has acquired the reputation of a new "biological scalpel" because it selectively digests dead tissue without affecting the surrounding live tissue. It, as well as other digestive enzymes, is useful therefore when the body is injured and requires a "clearing" or eradication of the dead cellular material, relieving inflammation and edema/swelling, often reducing protrusions and relieving the pressure of wounds that produces pain.

Peppermint Leaf - Relieves gas and inhibits gastrointestinal contraction, useful in treating irritable bowel syndrome, as confirmed by double blind studies. The leaf has the added benefit of being able to pass through the stomach so that the oil may be released further down in the intestines. If peppermint oil alone is used, it should be enterically coated so as to avoid premature release.

Ginger

Gentain - An herb of southern and central Europe generally grown as an ornamental in gardens because of its wondrous yellow flowers. Extracts from its flowers and roots are also thought to aid in digestion and help stimulate digestive secretions. Also found as one of the main ingredients in many preparations of "bitters," "angostura bitters" being one of the most prominent, it has also been found to demonstrate choleretic (bile producing) activity in animals. It's used as an additive in many frozen ice cream and dairy products, candy, baked goods, gelatins and puddings as well because of its curious flavor enhancing abilities.Used as a Homeopathic or simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: acid risings, ravenous hunger, nausea, weight and aching in stomach; stomach symptoms marked, acts as a tonic; -inflation and tension in stomach and abdomen; -colic, umbilical region sensitive to touch; flatulence (Boericke) -dull feeling of whole body and morose mood, with general dejection; -dry mouth, bitter or earthy taste; nausea, vomiting, colic; -diarrhea with yellow stools; rheumatic pains, weakness, sensations of constriction are marked and common; symptoms worse in afternoon, also after eating and on motion (Clarke)

Sucrase Sucrase or Beta-Fructofuranosidase - is an enzyme responsible for the breakdown or hydrolysis of disaccharides or common sugars and sugar chains.

Whey - This is the watery part of milk that remains liquid when the rest forms curds. It is naturally sweet in flavor and amazingly creamy when whipped, and generally fat free while being low in calories. Useful in aiding digestion.

Bromelain - One group of peptide hydrolases or enzymes and classified with papain, ficin, and asclepain, being useful in the breakdown and digestion of proteins.

Ginkgo Biloba - Although this is a common tree in Asia, and now used ornamentally in American suburbs, it was not known in the West until the 17th century. The secret of its believed powers lies in its leaves, as was first discovered by the Chinese some 5,000 years ago and later confirmed by western science. Quite interestingly is the fact that the Ginkgo Biloba tree is the longest surviving tree on earth, its genus being over 200 million years old, and an individual tree may live to be 1000 years old. Towering over 100 feet in the air and having a diameter of 4 feet, many have called this magisterial tree the "tree of life."Historically, it is known to reduce feverish body warmth, provide brain nutrients which possibly aid in memory processing and mental clarity while preserving function in the elderly, possibly because of its powerful antioxidant activity, and providing resistance against deterioration by increasing nutritional supplies to the important energy centers within the body. It is said to have particular properties which may help and complement the body's natural ability to strengthen the cardiovascular system, neutralize free radical damage, aid in the elimination of toxins and wastes, and prevent water retention in delicate tissue areas, reduce common annoyances associated with breathing while protecting the delicate areas within our bodies that help us take up oxygen, while promoting the oxygenation of the cells as well. This herb/tree is now the most popular in all of China and Europe.Science has finally discovered why the Ginkgo Biloba tree has been so useful throughout the ages. It's been found that the tree actually produces a series of natural flavonoids which may aid in the body's ability to heal itself and decrease unwanted disruption. Also included within the components of Ginkgo are isorhamnetin, proanthocyanidins (powerful antioxidants), terpenes, carotenoids and superoxide dismutase (SOD, yet another powerful antioxidant), increasing its cerebro-protective effects and the efficiencies of brain energy metabolism while elevating pyruvate and lowering lactate concentrations. Ginkgo also exhibits remarkable neurotransmitter modulating activity, and can therefore be effective in counteracting aging of the brain and may even be useful for preventing and treating senility, Alzheimer's/dementia, depression, memory loss, tinnitus, arterial insufficiency in the limbs, all of which grow more threatening every day we age.The Ginkgo tree quite amazingly produces rare substances called Ginkgolides, substances which science has discovered prevent the inappropriate clotting of blood. Ginkgolides interfere with the ability of the blood platelets to prematurely start the clotting process known as the platelet activating factor, or PAT for short. It is this same clotting factor that is known to be one of the components which prematurely and wrongly triggers allergic inflammation and toxic shock in immune dysfunction. Ginkgolides also are thought to aid the body's inhibition of the defense system. The Ginkgolides are reportedly known to inhibit this reaction effectively, as was reported in the prestigious British medical journal, The Lancet, 1987. Lastly, Ginkgo extracts have demonstrated usefulness in the treatment of male arterial erectile dysfunction, directly causing sure increases in flow of blood in both arteries and veins, without any threatening change in blood pressure. After 6 months of treatment, 95% demonstrated improvement, 50% tested regained potency. Also used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional for hypertension and problems with blood circulation. (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: general uneasiness and sensation of oppression; -heaviness of frontal region of head; vertigo; sense of fullness within the head; -buzzing and sensation of blockage in ears; -pressive precordial pain and pain along the sternum with lameness of left arm (Julian).

Betaine-TMG - A necessary and critical substance necessary for liver metabolism, a natural extract from sugar beets. Generally derived from choline and functions to synthesize the essential amino acid L-methionine from homocysteine. It has been shown to increase hepatic glutathione, which in turn lowers homocysteine, and thus the nutritional material of choice for lowering homcysteinuria. TMG, with a molecular weight of 118, is a methyl donor (-CH3) which successfully converts the powerful oxidizer and free radical generator homocysteine to safe methionine in the liver by giving up one of its three methyl groups. When TMG converts homocysteine to methionine it is reduced to DMG, which has only two methyl groups. DMG is also capable of reducing homocysteine to methionine, as well as reducing lactic acid buildup which allows more stamina for athletes. Homocysteine is almost exactly like methionine except that it lacks one methyl group. Research has shown that high homocysteine levels are correlated with cardiac arrest and stroke. Due to its bipolar nature, TMG helps osmotic pressure in cells. In humans TMG apparently helps to maintain normal cellular electrolyte concentrations, and help to conserve water and electrolyte losses during exercise. TMG is thought also to aid in the metabolizing of fats, allowing greater endurance and less cramping when it converts to DMG in the body. In animal husbandry, TMG has been used to increase meat yield while decreasing fat. In human studies, TMG has shown to add muscle mass while decreasing fat stores. Although yet to be proven, using TMG more than DMG may help conserve the body's choline reserves for conversion to acetylcholine, the important neurotransmitter often depleted in Alzheimer's victims. Generally, both should be of value. Results of a recent meta-analysis in Oxford, England at the Radcliffe Infirmary demonstrated that Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid (and to lesser extend by Vitamin B6, whose presence is necessary to convert homocysteine to the amino acid L-cysteine) were necessary vitamins involved in the body's cleansing process called methylation, wherein dangerous homocysteine levels are reduced. Lowering homocysteine levels has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, for as much as 30%-40%. Folic acid can be increased to .5 mg up to 5 mg with adequate amounts of B12 (1mg.) for these purposes. (BMJ, 316(7135):894-898, March1998)

Fo-Ti

Chymotrypsin (Trypsin) - One of the proteolytic enzymes secreted by the pancreas. A digestive enzyme needed to cleave proteins into peptides and amino acids. It continues the hydrolytic action begun by pepsin, and together they break molecules into smaller and smaller peptide fragments. Chymotrypsin specifically hydrolyzes/cleaves proteins at the amino acids in phenylalanine and tyrosine peptide linkages.

Magnesia phosphorica - Used as a Homeopathic medicine (tissue salt). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Indicated in tired, exhausted, neurotic subjects when suffering from darting, spasmodic pains which are relieved by pressure and warmth...it should be remembered in chorea, and contractions of single muscles, and cramps such as writer's cramp..." (Blackwood) -"The great antispasmodic remedy...cramping of muscles with radiating pains..neuralgic pains relieved by warmth...especially suited to tired, languid, exhausted subjects...indisposition for mental exertion;" -twitching of eyelids; supraorbital pains worse right side relieved by warmth externally applied; -severe neuralgic pain in ears, worse behind right ear; -toothache better by heat and hot liquids; -hiccough with retching day and night; -enteralgia relieved by pressure; -ovarian neuralgia; -intercostal neuralgia; -nervous spasmodic palpitation; constricting pain around heart; -involuntary shaking of hands; chorea; twitchings; tetanic spasms; darting pains in limbs; -sciatica, feet very tender; -weakness in arms and hands, fingertips stiff and numb (Boericke)

OptiZinc (zincmonomethione) - An antioxidant made by the InterHealth Co. in California, the same company that makes ChromeMate & ActiVin. OptiZinc has demonstrated synergistic effects with other antioxidants, far surpassing the abilities of common vitamin antioxidants such as vitamin A, E, and C. The antioxidant power of OptiZinc has been confirmed in multiple university-based studies. It also helps glutathione reserves in the body, as well as possibly reduce homocysteine levels because of its molecular configuration.

Methionine (L-Methionine, DL-Methionine, L-Selenom) - This is an essential amino acid containing sulfur. In its natural or "L-" form, L-Methionine is thought to be a powerful antioxidant preventing free-radical damage to tissues. It is also active in detoxifying heavy metals from the body. In its "D-" form, (the chemical-mirror image of the "L-" form), D-Methionine is thought useful in suppressing excessive histamine levels in the blood serum, as recent research has shown. It is also thought to be nutritionally advantageous for those experiencing the seasonal problems of runny, stuffy nose, itching and weeping eye and other related difficulties.DL-Methionine can nutritionally inhibit the production of the hormone "histamine" from the amino acid "histidine." DL-Methionine is used as well for those experiencing joint and muscle hurt. Also, suppression of histamine levels have been shown to be a nutritionally effective means to improve male libido, and sexual drive, as well as address the sexual problems of premature ejaculation, as is thought by some researchers. Increased levels of histamine in males may retard libido function whereas it may increase same in women. Conversely, high levels of methionine in females has the effect of perhaps reducing libido if not corrected with histidine supplementation. Also of some interest is that under certain conditions, methionine supplementation can nutritionally increase dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine: three very necessary brain neurotransmitters.

Aspartic Acid (L-Aspartic Acid, L-Aspartate, Asp) - This is an amino acid that promotes uptake of trace elements and is intricately involved with the energy cycle of the body, linking two of the body's most important biochemical pathways, the Urea cycle (the foundation of nitrogen metabolism) and the Krebs Cycle (the body's pathways for metabolism of carbohydrate). Aspartic acid in its "L-" form, L-Aspartic acid, is a major excitatory transmitter in the Human brain, and is the precursor of acetylaspartic acid, the most highly concentrated amino acid neurotransmitter in the brain. Aspartic acid, as well, is involved in the building of DNA and orotates. Aspartic acid and Phenylalanine are the amino acids which make up Aspartame, the new artificially derived "amino acid," which is now used commonly as a sweetener.

Glutamic Acid (L-Glutamic Acid) - Under certain conditions, L-Glutamic acid is an essential amino acid. Glutamic acid along with Glutamine, are the dominant amino acids of the cerebrospinal fluid and serum. Known as one of the notorious three musketeers in brain neurochemistry, Glutamic acid is a uniquely powerful brain food, an excitatory neurotransmitter which paradoxically can give rise to GABA, an inhibitory and balancing neurotransmitter within the brain. Glutamic acid is found in concentration within the hippocampus (the memory centers of the brain), in cranial nerves as well as other areas of information transfer to effect motor response. This amino acid is essential for the production of other nonessential amino acids, a process called "transamination."

Maltase Maltase or alpha-Glucosidase - is the enzyme responsible for the breakdown or hydrolysis of the complex carbohydrate Malt and malt sugars.

Micro-nutritionals - are trace entities which can be of any substance and which can be diluted and succussed over several generations. These are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of the original substance such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate is present in the final dilution. This process creates a Homeopathic-like entity or micro-nutritional trace potency which accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate, magnified by the succession of dilution and succussions. Specific electromagnetic signatures exist weakly for each and all organic and inorganic materials. When organic and inorganic materials are processed through continuous dilutions and succussions, their electromagnetic signatures appear to grow more strongly. These amplified electromagnetic signatures can positively impact the body's cells, most of which have electromagnetic receptors on their external cell walls capable of picking up such signatures, just as a radio receiver picks up radio transmissions. Often the electromagnetic signature of a substance can impart cellular instructions to living cells, prompting renewed cellular integrity, repair, regeneration, protein synthesis, communication with other cells, and the flushing of toxins. Although the activity of micro-nutritionals is still debated, it is clear that their activity is deeper than simple chemistry, but involves the electrochemical properties and physics of organic and inorganic substances instead, a "switching mechanism" which is more fundamental than, but causative to, biochemical reactions. Current research appears to be in the process of confirming these theoretical constructs.

Pancreas - Used as a Micro-Nutritional Homeopathic potency (animal). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: pancreatic insufficiency (Tetau).

Antimonium crudum (stibnite) - Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (mineral). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Especially indicated in those who have overloaded the stomach and have eructations tasting of food, vomiting, and especially a thickly coated white tongue. It pictures atonic gastric catarrh, vomiting predominates, especially after pickles and sour things. It has nausea of a loathing variety, food is repugnant, depressed vitality is always present." (Dewey) -"Should be remembered in cases of gastric disturbances of various forms when the digestion is slow. There is fermentation nausea and vomiting, bowels loose, stools lumpy...derangement of the digestive organs, thick white coating upon the tongue, marked mental irritability and fretfulness, eructations have taste of food taken some time before." (Blackwood) -foods which disagree/ill effects of: bread-fats-pastry-pork sour foods, sour drinks-vinegar-wine (Boericke).

Arnica latifolia (Arnica montana, Arnica Extract) - This botanical is a wonderful soothing application for wounds and bruises, aiding the body's natural abilities to provide temporary relief from joint pain, and of sensitive skin (when skin is not broken) as well. Especially when applied topically, arnica preparations have antiphlogistic activity. In cases of inflammation, arnica preparations also show analgesic and antiseptic activity. For external use in injury and for consequences of accidents, e.g. hematoma, dislocations, contusions, oedema due to fracture, rheumatic muscle and joint problems. Also shown effective with inflammation of the oral and throat region, furunculosis, inflammation caused by insect bites, phlebitis. Prolonged treatment with large amounts of arnica to damaged skin, e.g., use for injuries or ulcus cruris (indolent leg ulcers), can cause edematous dermatitis with the formation of pustules. Improper use can also give rise to eczema. In treatment involving higher concentrations of the herb, primary toxic skin reactions with formation of vesicles or even necroses may occur. It is also thought useful for the hair, claimed by some to actually induce growth (unproven), and historically thought to promote the beard in young men! It is suggested for use on pimples and blemishes, as it is thought to be a natural cleanser, and when applied topically, it is generally a good balm for the skin. Active substances include astragalan, chorogenic acid, cymarin, essential oils, ester derivates of helenalin, ferulic acid, ispquercitin, thymol and others. Also used as a Homeopathic medicine (botanical) (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Is our great vulnerary and it is a well-established one in Homeopathy. It suits injuries to soft parts such as accompany fractures, dislocations, bruises, ecchymoses...Dr. Grauvogle recommended doses before and after every operation whether in the domain of surgery, ophthalmology or obstetrics. Indeed its value in obstetrical practice is hardly to be estimated: if given before and after delivery it will almost infallibly prevent puerperal fever. It has great power of delaying and preventing suppuration and it is of special use after operations around the eyes, particularly after cataract operations. It prevents extension and mortification of carbuncle. It is of use in injuries of long standing. It prevents pyemia. In concussion of the brain or spinal cord, in wrenches of the muscles and hemorrhages from injuries it is our most useful remedy. It should also be given after fractures where the limbs start (ie, twitch or jump) continually, as it corresponds to the sensitiveness..." -"It is a remedy to prevent threatened apoplexy (CVA; 'stroke') ...apoplexy due to external violence calls for Arnica: it should be administered after acute symptoms have subsided to promote absorption of the clot...Dr. William Butler believes that we have in Arnica a sheet anchor for dissolving blood clots-in our own hands it has worked most favorably in a number of cases." (Dewey). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has also demonstrated effectiveness against the following digestive symptomology: atony of the stomach, painful contractions, fullness after eating (Dewey) -pain in stomach during eating; repletion with loathing; -oppressive gases pass upward and downward; -pressure in stomach as from a stone; -feeling as if stomach were pressing against spine (Boericke); apoplexy (stroke) with red, full face; -thrombosis; -chronic vertigo, objects whirl about especially when walking; -angina pectoris; stitches in heart; fatty heart and hypertrophy; -heat and redness of head with coolness of rest of body; internal heat, feet and hands cold (Boericke); "Often, attacks of apoplexy can be prevented by restoring the circulation to its equilibrium by means of such remedies as... Arnica... (Dewey).

Bryonia alba (White Bryony) - The Greeks used the root as a purgative. The root can be lethal if swallowed. Today, Homeopathic physicians use extremely diluted extracts for arthritis with sharp pains, backaches, painful coughs and sore throats, nausea, vomiting and constipation.Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Suitable to rheumatism of joints and of muscular tissue itself: muscles sore and swollen, joints violently inflamed, red, swollen shiny and very hot; pains sharp, stitching or cutting, aggravated from slightest motion; touch and pressure also aggravate." (Dewey). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has also demonstrated effectiveness against the following digestive symptomology: pains soon after eating food: it seems to lie like a stone in the stomach, pains are sharp and cutting and extend to shoulders and back; -mouth is rather dry and a bitter taste is present; -constipation and frontal headaches are accompaniments (Dewey) -"Important in diseases of the digestive organs; in gastralgia when there is a sensation of weight in stomach as from a stone; this may appear when stomach is empty or when it is full; it is frequently the result of having partaken of indigestible foods, beer, brandy, or strong coffee; there may be flatulence, and vomiting of sour, acrid mucous; the epigastrium is extremely sensitive to pressure and constipation is present." (Blackwood) -foods which disagree/ill effects of: cabbage-warm or hot drinks meat (Boericke).Especially beneficial when used at certain Homeopathic potencies for the eyes: first remedy to be thought of in rheumatic iritis-sharp shooting pain through eye into head worse motion ameliorated by pressure; or steady aching in posterior part of eye extending, through to the occiput, worse night and motion; -it has checked glaucoma; -has proven valuable in serous iridochoroiditis and in ciliary neuralgia (Moffat).

Capsicum annum (Capcicum, Capsicum Frutescens, Cay) - This very effective herb and hot pepper is used to relieve pain when applied topically or when taken internally. It is thought to interrupt the pain signal through a process of reversible desensitization. Over 30 years of recent research has demonstrated that capsaicin, the biological active component of capsicum, appears to desensitize sensory receptors on cells, and thus effectively blocks pain signals from being processed. (Capsaicin in the Study of Pain, John Wood, Academic Press, Harcourt Brace, New York, 1993)But capsicum has other attributes. Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "The remedy is indicated where there is general enfeebled atonic conditions. The patient is fat, indolent, muscular fibers are relaxed, flabby and weakened." (Blackwood) -obesity (adiposis, corpulence) (Boericke). Also as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following digestive symptomology: "Is very useful in gastric hyperchlorhydria, chronic pyrosis; Dr. Cartier praises this remedy highly in hyperacidity..." (Dewey) -"A most useful remedy in atonic dyspepsia and flatulent colic; there is a sensation of burning referred to the stomach and the whole digestive system appears to be in an atonic condition." (Blackwood).

Graphites (Pencil Lead) - Used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (mineral). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: voluptuous excitation in the genital parts; -violent erections; uncontrollable sexual excitement; -emission of semen almost involuntary, without erection; -during an embrace painful cramp in the calves; after an embrace coldness of the legs, exhaustion, heat of the body; -absence of emission of semen during coition; -feeble enjoyment during coition (Clarke). Also as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following digestive symptomology: "Should not be neglected in stomach disorders. Dr. Jousset recommends the alternation of Nux vomica and Graphites in most cases of dyspepsia and claims that this is all-sufficient in most cases; has tympanitic distension of stomach and bowels, obliged to loosen the clothing after eating; burning cramps in epigastrium and putrid eructations; gastralgia which is a burning, crampy, colicky pain, often relieved by eating; sweets nauseate and disgust, hot drinks disagree, there is a rush of blood to the head after eating; disagreeable taste in the morning, as though had eaten eggs." (Dewey)

Nux vomica - This is a Homeopathic medicine derived from Bachelor's Buttons (botanical). (Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate; these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original substrate or medicine is present in the medicine). As a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional, it has demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: tingling and itching in ears; -insupportable itching in nose; obstruction of nose; dry coryza and stoppage of nose; -sensation of contraction of gullet with danger of suffocation; -difficult respiration, shortness of breath, asthmatic constriction and oppression of chest, worse after dinner; hay asthma (Clarke)This Homeopathic medicine has also demonstrated effectiveness against the following symptomology: "Useful in irritable, excited, oversensitive patients with defective memories, loss of energy, patients with whom 'everything goes wrong', trifling ailments are unbearable; there is intellectual incapacity and insomnia, nightmares, and if all these conditions are associated with dyspeptic troubles the remedy is all the better indicated." Rutoside (Rutosid, Rutin) - A bioflavonoid obtained from buckwheat, flower buds of the pagoda tree and the leaves of several species of the Eucalyptus. Rutin is actually a form of Quercetin. Quercetin, one of the most common and abundant flavonoids, occurs bound to sugars in the form known as Rutin or Rutoside. This is generally found in apples, onions, and tea among others.

Protease - A family of enzymes which demonstrate the ability to breakdown or hydrolyse protein. Protease is a descriptive term for proteolytic enzymes, both endopeptidases (eg., pepsin, cathespins, papain) and exopeptidases (eg., carboxy- and aminopeptidases, dipeptidases.)

Amylase - This family of alpha, beta and gamma digestive enzymes is responsible for starch-splitting or amylolytic activity that cleaves starch molecules and related polysaccharides.
