Conjugated Linoleic Acid is a new supplement that is growing fast in popularity. Many questions about it arise as to studies and research on CLA, as well as information gathered in the news. Over the past several years many organizations have taken a look at CLA in the lab and in the world to see how and if it works.

The College of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Wisconsin in Madison has simply stated, "Conjugated Linoleic Acid has many beneficial biological effects." Their studies also revealed CLA has the potential to fight cancer, heart disease, reduce weight, and boost the immune system. Their research continues to this day..

Information from the United States Department of Agriculture states, "It has been demonstrated that CLA can reduce the incidence of tumor formation in laboratory animals and can decrease the proportion of fat and increase the proportion of lean tissue in several avian and mammalian species."

Studies by Purdue and Penn State researchers state, "Our study suggests that CLA may help normalize or reduce blood glucose levels and prevent diabetes." The study also states, "CLA appears to work as well as a new class of diabetes-fighting drugs, the thiazolidinediones, or TZDs."

In an article written by Carol Steinhart of the Journal of Chemical Education, Ms. Steinhart tells us that CLA, "channels energy use toward buildup of lean body mass and away from deposition of fat." She also mentions "(CLA) is the only known antioxidant/anticarcinogen primarily associated with animal foods. Moreover, amounts close to those in a normal mixed human diet are effective, not only in cancer protection but also in all the other biological activities of this compound."

Eat Wild, a Web site devoted to information on pasture based farming, mentions, "In animal studies, CLA has blocked all three stages of cancer: 1) initiation, 2) promotion, and 3) metastasis." They also tell us how CLA slowed growth of a wide variety of tumors, including skin, breast, and colon cancer.

The research on CLA so far tells us Conjugate Linoleic Acid is an excellent nutritional supplement for the body. It helps fight a variety of diseases, improves overall health, and increases muscle mass and reduce fat levels.
